ABEOKUTA—The Fusegbuwa ruling family in Ijebu-Ode has tendered five exhibits against the founder of First City Monument Bank, Otunba Subomi Balogun before an Ogun state High Court, Ijebu-Ode in respect of the case over the headship (Olori – Ebi) of the Funsengbuwa Ruling House of Ijebu Ode .
Some members of the family, who dragged the Olori-Omooba of Ijebuland, Otunba Balogun before the court include former President, Institute of Chartered Accountant of Nigeria (ICAN), Otunba Abdul-Lateef Owoyemi, Prince Rasaq Akeju, Yisau Ajidagaba and Prince Adeleke Adeyemi.
Otunba Balogun, who is a member of the family was dragged to court following his purported emergence as the head of the family after the demise of the former head of the family, Chief Adeleke.
The exhibits consist of letters written by the ruling house to Awujale and Paramount ruler of Ijebuland, Oba Sikiru Adetona, the Ijebu-Ode local government, the Permanent Secretary of local government and Chieftaincy Affairs and acknowledgement letter from the local government all pertaining to the nomination of Owoyemi as the authentic head of the ruling house.
While admitting the exhibits which were vehemently opposed by the counsel to the defendant on the ground that the letters were not signed, but, were later found to be signed by the Secretary of the ruling family, the Judge, Aderonke Asenuga overruled the counsel to defendant.
The judged admitted the exhibits and marked them appropriately.
The case was however, adjourned the case to February 13 and March 7,2017 for continuation of hearing.
