IYC Okrika convention described as kangaroo gathering

Ijaw Youth Council, IYC, stakeholders and leaders from the three zones that make up the council have described the convention held at Okrika, Rivers State, as a Kangaroo gathering, declaring it null and void.

Addressing newsmen in  Bomadi, Delta State , Jones Waribo from  Eastern zone, Ebiakpo Akpoebi, Central zone and Pius Opoku, Western zone, said an individual, no matter his position, cannot unilaterally convoke  a convention of IYC.

They said that out of the 10-man national executive council, NEC, of IYC, the national president and the spokesman cannot convoke a convention to produce an electoral committee.
