Crisis is looming at New Site Estate, Ijegun Imore, Oriade Local Council Development Authority, Lagos State, between Landlords Association and Community Development Association, CDA, over the alleged demolition of a security house and gate mounted by the landlords to check crime.
Vanguard learned that the New Site Estate’s CDA, in collaboration with some government officials, Tuesday, allegedly demolished the security house and gate.
According to Chairman of the Landlords Association, Prince Iyke Osuchukwu, “the security house had been there for over eight years now and we have been collecting tolls from vehicles bringing building materials to the estate.
“We use the money we generate at the gate to pay security, buy diesel to power the street lights, maintenance of roads and other developmental projects.
“But after the present executives of the landlords association were elected on December 26, 2016, the CDA connived with some people suspected to be government officials and demolished the house and gate we spent huge amount of money to construct.”
Osuckukwu, therefore, said the landlords in the area would not fold their arms and suffer intimidations, adding, “we watched them destroy our security house and gate, but that will no longer be tolerated.”
He, therefore, called on the relevant authorities to intervene on the matter before it will get out of hand.
When Vanguard visited the New Site Estate Community Development Association’s office, the Chairman, Otunba B. S. Taiwo, was not available for comment and his phone was switched off and a text message sent to him was not replied.
