ABRAKA – OPERATIVES of the Department of State Security, DSS, have flooded Abraka community of Delta State over claims by locals that an helicopter was allegedly sighted dropping supplies for Fulani herdsmen at the barren area of Ovre-Abraka.

Last week, locals in the community while lamenting the activities of the herdsmen, further alleged that the alarm raised by the lawmaker representing Ethiope East in the State House of Assembly, Hon. Evance Ivwurie was true.

The alarm by Ivwurie is coming ten months after he was accompanied by a combined team of security operatives made of the police and vigilante, on foot, chased the herdsmen in an attempt to identifying their sponsors and making them accountable for their actions.

Giving details of the operation, a senior operative of the DSS disclosed that operatives in partnership with other sister security agencies have been drafted to the area to investigate and verify the claims of the locals.

The security source who spoke on condition of anonymity, said: “Though we already have operatives in the area, personnel have been drafted to the area to find out the true position of things in the community.”
