Borno Governor Kashim Shettima
Borno State Governor Kashim Shettima yesterday donated N14 million to residents that lost their property during last week’s Boko Haram suicide bombings in Maiduguri, the state capital.
The cash compensation was given to owners of four vehicles, mostly petroleum tankers, which were torched when two teenage female suicide bombers detonated their strapped Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) near the NNPC depot on Damboa road.
Shettima also yesterday announced a N200million loan facility for members of the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) to assist them boost their businesses, which were negatively affected by Boko Haram insurgency.
Shettima made the pledges when he visited the scene of the blast that occurred on Friday last week, while he was out of the country for the Oslo conference in Norway.
He implored victims of insurgency to bear the pains caused by the incident, saying God destined it so.
