Nomvelo Makhanya (born April 23, 1996) is a South African actress and singer. She started off as sports girl and was very good at it before her mother suggested she try out the National School of the Arts (NSA) in Braamfontein, Johannesburg. Nomvelo has appeared in theatre productions like Maybe This Time, African Reflections and The Bald Prima Donn.
Nomvelo Makhanya, who hails from Nkandla in KwaZulu-Natal, says she loves performing and entertaining people.
Makhanya, who is beginning to find her feet as a professional actress, portrays the role of Lindiwe Ngema on Scandal!.
Nomvelo’s mother suggested she try out the National School of the Arts (NSA) in Braamfontein, Johannesburg.
Makhanya, at 19, realised when she was doing Sarafina the musical that she actually gets fulfilled when performing.

Everyone knew her at school as the sport person. It came as a shock to many people when she told them she was going to NSA.
Nomvelo says she’s a working actress and her character is beyond her control, but often she has to sit people down and explain the difference between her character and reality.
She is best friends with her on screen brother “Scelo”. When Nomvelo Makhanya was growing up, she wanted to become either a netball or hockey star.
Nomvelo is not only an aspiring actress, she also loves to sing.
Her Woman crush is Scandal actress Samkelo Ndlovu.
