A chief Magistrate’s Court in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, has summoned the state Commissioner of Police and the State Attorney General to appear in court to explain why the detained pro-Biafra protesters should not be granted bail unconditionally.

The Chief Magistrate, Mr. Andrew Jaja, gave the order yesterday after hearing arguments from the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) lawyers and the prosecution on why the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) advice on the matter was not ready within the ten days given by the court.

Lawyer to the pro-Biafra agitators, Inalegwu Adoga, urged the Federal and Rivers State Governments to resolve the Biafra agitation, like the Niger Delta issues, adding that court matters, detention, arm struggle or protests are not the best option.

However, Jaja granted bail to one of the pro-Biafra protesters on health grounds.Emmanuel Nnamani was granted bail, following an application by Adoga, citing the worsening eye problem the accused person had during the pro-Donald Trump solidarity protest in the state.

Meanwhile, some pro-Biafra supporters, who stormed the Judiciary Complex, chanting solidarity songs, during and after the court sitting were prevented by heavily armed security men from entering the court premises.
