Ibadan—The Olubadan of Ibadan Land, Oba Saliu Adetunji Ogungunniso 1, has pledged his support to get rid of dirt in the state and therefore called on the traders, various unions and the general public to comply with the state environmental sanitation regulations to ensure a healthy and habitable environment free from diseases.
Meantime, the Oyo State government has said it would begin enforcement of environmental sanitation and waste management laws next month.
The government then sought the support of monarchs and market leaders in the state in its campaign for a cleaner and healthier environment in the state.
The Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Chief Isaac Ishola, disclosed this at the weekend during a meeting convened by the Olubadan of Ibadan Land, Oba Saliu Adetunji with various market leaders in the State, held at the Olubadan’s Palace, Popo Yemoja Area, Ibadan.
According to him, “To achieve total compliance with the state environmental laws, the cooperation of the traditional and market leaders cannot be over emphasized.
In their various responses, the Babaloja and Iyalaje, Alhaji Dahood Adisa and Alhaja Oseolorun Sifau respectively while pledging their support to government’s policy and programmes commended the determination and commitment of the Ajimobi led administration.
