PORT HARCOURT—  All Progressives Congress, APC, in Rivers State, yesterday expelled its Minority Leader in the state House of Assembly, Mr Benibo Anambrabra, over alleged anti-party activities, disobedience and negligence.

The development has further deepened the crisis rocking the party as some members of the party recently protested to the state secretariat of the party demanding the sack of the state Chairman, Dr Davies Ikanya, a move the party dismissed as perpetrated by non-members allegedly sponsored by an opposition political party.

Meantime, the state Chairman of the party, Dr Ikanya, said Benibo, allegedly snubbed three invitations from the party to explain allegations against him, stressing that the party had to invoke portions of its constitution as amended in 2014 to expel him.

According to him, “The state working committee of the party, SWC, having invited you Benibo Anambraba, three times to its meeting, to discuss the allegations of your anti-party activities, disobedience and negligence in carrying out careful directives of the party and your refusal to attend any of the invitations the SWC in her meeting 27/1/17 has resolved that you are guilty of anti party activities, disobedience and negligence.”
