A restraining court order notwithstanding, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is to hold election in all 68 polling units of Langtang South for the legislative rerun tomorrow in Plateau State.
According to a statement by the commission’s Head of Voter Education and Publicity in the state, Osaretin Imahiyereobo in Jos, the exercise would feature only two of the three candidates that earlier participated in the 2015 general elections. The participants are Jackson Nimmwang of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and his Mega Progressive Party (MPPP) rival, Rinsmicit Emmanuel.
The reaffirmation comes amid an order by a Jos High Court yesterday granting an interim injunction restraining Ithe electoral umpire from proceeding with the exercise as scheduled. But Imahiyereobo said his agency was yet to be served the document at press time.
He, however, said that if the letter came before the election, they would abide by its content.
