The Biography Of Shatta Wale [Age, Life Profile & Net Worth]
Charles Nii Armah Mensah Jnr. (born October 17, 1984) known by his stage name Shatta Wale formerly Bandana), is a Ghanaian born producer and reggae-dancehall musician. He is best known for his biggest breakthrough hit song Dancehall King which led to winning the Artiste of the Year at the 2014 edition of the Ghana Music Awards. Shatta Wale has in recent times demonstrated that he can act as well by featuring in his first ever movie titled Never Say Never featuring Charles Kofi Bucknor, Edward Kufuor and Paulina Oduro and also featuring in Shattered Lives along with Bisa K’dei and Majid Michel.
Charles attended Winneba Secondary School and during that time he was popularly known as ‘Ayoz’. After the release of his first album titled Bandana from Ghana, then Bandana went into musical hiatus until he re-branded himself to Shatta Wale and released his hit song Dancehall King in 2013. Shatta Wale’s rise happened at the 2013 VGMAs, with his musical dexterity, he composed a song against the organisers of the Ghana Music Awards titled Me Need No Awards because he alleged the organisers robbed him off the Dancehall Artiste of the Year to female Dancehall Artiste Kaakie. The song had very uncharitable lyrics. This the media, bloggers and other entertainment pundits claim led to his breakthrough and relevance in the Ghana Music Industry.
His greatest hit in 2013, Dancehall king took the airwaves by surprise. Shatta wale’s musical revenue is mostly generated through hosting of shows which attracts most 1000’s of Ghanaian youths.

He is the dancehall Messiah. He resurrected dancehall in Ghana. Shatta Wale Almost Clocked Hundred Songs for 2015.
In 2014, Shatta Wale was unveiled as one of the brand ambassadors of Guinness Ghana Breweries along with other musicians like Reggie Rockstone, EL, and Fuse ODG for Made of Black campaign.
Shatta, the dance hall superstar has also been unveiled as the brand ambassador for newest energy drink on the market the Rush Energy Drink.

Human-pig hybrid embryo breakthrough
*Chimera opens possibility for ‘designer’ animal organs to be used in people to tackle increasing shortage of organs for transplants
Part human, part pig embryos have been successfully created by scientists for the first time. The embryos, that were grown inside a sow, contained a ‘low’ amount of human tissue.
But it is hoped one day this technique will allow whole organs in the pig to be grown of human cells, to tackle the increasing shortage of organs for transplants. Researchers are interested in growing human tissues and organs in animals by introducing pluripotent human cells into early animal embryos.
Using this method, researchers hope to produce sheep, pigs and cows with human hearts, kidneys, livers, pancreases and possibly other organs that could be used for transplants. It is hoped that one day this technique will allow whole organs in the pig to be grown of human cells, which will not be rejected by the intended recipient’s immune system.
Around the world there is a desperate shortage of organs for transplant.
The ‘chimera’, or human-animal hybrid, was created by injecting human stem cells into pig embryos and then implanting them in a sow. The human stem cells grew and formed part of the tissue of the pig embryos, although they did not become piglets as they were removed at 28 days.
The amount of human tissue that grew in the pig embryos was ‘low’, researchers said.
The first scientifically published report of the creation of a human-pig ‘chimera’ appeared in the scientific journal Cell.
Whole organs comprising entirely of human cells would need to be grown for use in transplantation. But it has been hailed as an important step in the way to the goal of one day growing human organs in pigs or other animals.
The research raises ethical issues. If too much human Deoxy ribonucleic Acid (DNA) is introduced in a pig’s embryo, it could result in a pig with a ‘human brain’ – or a human face although as yet these concerns are a long way from being realised.
Dr. David King, Director of Human Genetics Alert, the secular watchdog group, said: “I find these experiments disturbing.
“In mythology human-animal chimeras were frightening monsters for good reason. I don’t recall these scientists asking for the public’s opinion before going ahead with such experiments. I am concerned that human organs or tissues produced in pigs might carry pig viruses into the human population. The concern about mixing species touches something deep in the human psyche and our culture that is hard to put into words. It is not about some ‘wisdom of nature’, but about the unwisdom of scientists.”
An initial attempt to create a cow-human embryo was abandoned as the research effort was ‘more difficult and costly’.

Toxins in toad’s skin hold secret to cancer, AIDS cure, study finds
Toad
From curing cancer and getting you high, to transforming an amphibian into a handsome prince, the effects of licking or kissing a toad have endured centuries of legendary status.
These creatures have long been used in traditional folk medicine, with claims they produce substances that cure infections, alleviate pain, and even fight Human Immuno-deficiency Virus (HIV)/Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS).
Scientists have now conducted a comprehensive study on the chemicals produced by toads – and, perhaps unsurprisingly, they’ve found that it might not be in your best interest to lick them.
While the study identified a number of possible areas for new drug discovery, the researchers also highlighted a slew of powerful toxins in their skin that could be harmful or even deadly.
The researchers identified a number of toxins in frog and toad skin, which are thought to protect them against predators. In the genus Atelopus, most of these chemicals are tetrodototoxins – a potent neurotoxin. According to the United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), tetrodototoxins interfere with the signals transmitted between the nerves and muscles, causing the muscles to become paralyzed.
As this applies to the respiratory tract as well, being poisoned with this toxin can lead to respiratory arrest and, ultimately, death. And, researchers have also found zetekitoxins in A. zeteki and chiriquitoxins in A. limosus.
Some forms of zetekitoxin are known to be powerful cardiotoxins, having drastic effects on the heart, and scientists have found chiriquitoxins to be a natural analog of tetrodotoxin.
While these toxins could be harnessed for treatments, they can also be deadly.
“Remarkably, toxins from a single frog skin can kill 130-1000 mice,” said Candelario Rodriguez, researcher at INDICASAT and first author of the review.
The mechanism of action is to reduce cardiac rhythm, making these interesting candidates as therapeutic compounds.
Researchers from the Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute and colleagues at the University of Panama, Panama’s government research center INDICASAT AIP, Vanderbilt University, and Acharya Nagarjuna University, investigated the chemicals found in members of the Bufonidae family. There are 47 frog and toad species used in traditional medicine, and 15 of these belong to the Bufonidae family.
People have long relied on the secretions of the toads’ skin and parotid glands near their ears, along with their bones and muscle tissue, to create remedies for a wide range of ailments. This includes infections, bites, cancer, heart disorders, hemorrhages, allergies, inflammation, pain and even AIDS.
But many species, like Panama’s golden frog (Atelopus zeteki), are now endangered, spurring concern that they may die out before scientists determine if they really do have such powers.

The Biography Of Luciano (singer) [Age, Life Profile & Net Worth]
Jepther McClymont OD (born October 20, 1964), better known as Luciano, is a Jamaican second-generation roots reggae artist.
Born in Davyton, Manchester Parish, and raised as the seventh of nine children in a strict Adventist family, Luciano began recording in 1992, with his first single “Ebony & Ivory” (on which he was credited as ‘Stepper John’) on the Aquarius Record label, followed by a split album with DJ Presley (now credited as ‘Luciana’) for producer Sky High. His first releases as Luciano included the hit single “Give My Love a Try”, produced at Castro Brown’s New Name Studio, followed by others produced by Brown, Freddie McGregor, Blacka Dread, and Sly and Robbie, including the 1993 no. 1 UK reggae hit “Shake It Up Tonight”.

He started working with Philip “Fatis” Burrell, releasing the singles “Chant Out” and “Poor and Simple”, with the album Moving Up following in late 1993. In 1994 he cut singles for Musclehead and Louie Culture before returning to work with Burrell for a series of successful singles and the album One Way Ticket, which saw Luicano at the forefront of the “Rasta Renaissance” in dancehall music.
The renewal of Rastafarian influence into dancehall music in the early 1990s had begun with artists such as Tony Rebel and Garnett Silk. After Silk’s death in late 1994, many looked to Luciano to continue consciousness in reggae music. Of Garnett Silk, he stated “Garnett was more like a brother, a father, a tutor, a forerunner.
When he moved on I knew the work for me became harder still.”
The following year brought the smash hit album Where There Is Life for Chris Blackwell’s label Island Jamaica. It contained such hits as “It’s Me Again Jah” (a no. 1 single in Jamaica), “Who Could It Be”, as well as the title track. He
recorded a second album for Island Jamaica in 1997 entitled The Messenger (largely compiled from his hit singles), whose title track earned him his enduring nickname.
The majority of his recording in the mid-to-late 1990s was for Burrell and the Xterminator label, which by that time included such artists as Sizzla, Mikey General and Firehouse Crew, as well as recordings from Capleton and Cocoa Tea.
Along with the work on the two albums for Island Jamaica, the majority of Luciano hits produced by Burrell were featured on 1999’s Sweep Over My Soul. Burrell and Luciano parted ways in 1999.
By 2001, Luciano had released two live albums as well as two compilation albums alongside Sizzla and Anthony B after the split with Xterminator. That year saw the release of two new albums of material, Great Controversy on Jet Star and A New Day on VP Records. The latter received a nomination for Best Reggae Album at the 2002 Grammy Awards, and was executive produced by longtime saxophonist and touring partner Dean Fraser. The album received additional production from Sly & Robbie and was backed by Fraser and the Firehouse Crew.
Fraser continued to produce many of Luciano’s albums throughout the decade, including 2008’s Jah Is My Navigator. In 2010, he released United States of Africa.
While the previous album had focused mostly on God, Africa dealt with global events. Of this, Luciano stated, “We’re not just singing about Zion and all those glorious dreams. We’re also dealing with issues that affect the people, their very minds.”
He was awarded the Order of Distinction in the rank of Officer on 15 October 2007, in recognition of his contribution to reggae music.
In July 2009, Luciano paid his respects to fellow musician Michael Jackson by releasing a reggae tribute (on Lioni Records) of Jackson’s iconic USA for Africa charity song, “We are the World”.
His album, Zion Awake was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Reggae Album in 2016.
Luciano is a devout Rastafarian, whose lyrics promote consciousness and eschew slackness, or vulgarity, which is often prominent in reggae and dancehall music.
He has criticized other Rastafarian reggae artists who record slackness material, describing them as having lost focus.
The singer himself has sometimes been criticized for the reading of Biblical verses prior to performances, which has been described as inappropriate.
The singer is also an activist in the promotion of ganja, or marijuana, stating: “I’m not fighting for the decriminalisation of ganja, because it was never a criminal.
My fight is to enlighten the people of the cannabis and let them know of the herbal properties and the benefits we can achieve from it.”
In 2010, Luciano was reportedly given a tract of land for residence in the Gambia at the bequest of President Alhaji Dr Yahya Jammeh.

The Federal Government for the second time yesterday sought protection of witnesses that would be testifying against the former National Security Adviser (NSA), Colonel Sambo Dasuki.
Dasuki is facing trial for alleged unlawful possession of firearms and money laundering brought against him by the Department of State Security Service (DSS).
The fresh application dated January 23 and filed on January 24 by the prosecution counsel, Chief Oladipo Okpeseyi (SAN), is praying the Federal High Court, Abuja, to shield names and addresses of witnesses from public knowledge.
But in a strong opposition to the fresh request, Dasuki, through his counsel, Ahmed Raji (SAN), asked the court to dismiss government’s application on the ground that it lacked merit and constituted a gross abuse of court process.
The Ex-NSA in a counter-affidavit filed by Raji, further argued that there was no justification for the Federal Government to have brought the motion for secret trial a second time, having lost in the first motion.
The defendant insisted that the Federal Government had on its own volition, placed the charges against Dasuki on the Internet, where the names, addresses and positions of the witnesses were conspicuously put at the disposal of the general public.
The defendant insisted that when the first application was argued by the then Director, Public Prosecution of the Federation (DPPF), Mr. Mohamed Diri, Justice Adeniyi Ademola of the same court, in a landmark ruling, dismissed the request on the ground that the witnesses were already known by the public, having published their names on the Internet.
He said what the prosecution ought to do if not satisfied with the decision of Justice Ademola, was to have gone to the Court of Appeal to ventilate its anger.
The defendant, who attached a copy of the earlier court ruling to the application therefore urged the trial Judge, Justice Ahmed Ramat Mohammed, not to entertain the fresh motion for a secret trial because it would violate his right to fair trial and will run contrary to the principle of rule of law and natural justice.
When the motion came up yesterday, Opeseyi could not move the motion on the ground that the defence had just served him a voluminous counter-affidavit, objecting the motion.
Noting however that so many fundamental issues were raised in the counter-affidavit and that plethora of authorities were also cited in the counter affidavit, the prosecution counsel consequently applied for an adjournment to enable him study the counter-affidavit and respond to it appropriately.
The defence did not object to the request for the adjournment but clarified that the fresh motion for secret trial was served on the defendant last Thursday, hence, the counter-affidavit prepared over the weekend was served yesterday within the time allowed by law.
Justice Mohammed therefore fixed hearing of the motion for March 1.

Lagos-Ibadan work to begin in March, says Amaechi
The Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi has urged the Senate to approve $6.1billion loan from China Exim Bank for the construction of Calabar-Port Harcourt, Lagos-Ibadan, Lagos-Kano rail and Lagos to Kaduna railway.
The credit facility forms part of the $30billion loan the Presidency was seeking the National Assembly approval to fund critical infrastructure.
Amaechi, who appeared before the Senate Committee on Land and Transport, to defend the 2017 budget, explained that $3.4bilion was for the construction of Calabar-Port Harcourt railway, while Lagos-Ibadan would cost $1.5billion, while $2.7billion is for the construction of Lagos-Kaduna, with Kano railway to gulp $1.2 billion.
Pointing out that the Federal Government had provided its counterpart 15 percent fund, he said: “It will do us good if the National Assembly can kindly approve this loan of $30 billion because the $6.1 billion is part of it and that is why we need the National Assembly to approve. What was approved was the 15% counter part funding. But we need your approval to borrow.”
He disclosed that although the bank had approved the $1.5billion loan for the construction of Lagos-Ibadan railway, but the approval of the National Assembly was still needed to sign the loan so that construction work can commence in March.
Amaechi assured that the Federal Government would pursue the railway modernisation project with greater vigour in 2017 to achieve practical completion of the Abuja-Kaduna, Lagos-Kaduna, Lagos-Ibadan, Lagos-Kano, Kano-Kaduna. Lagos to Calabar would commence from Calabar to Port Harcourt, with extension to Onne Deep Sea Port after the conclusion of the negotiation of a financing loan agreement.
He said the Federal Government was able to remobilise and resuscitate the Itakpe-Ajaokuta-Warri central rail line project in 2016 as the contractors had left the site since 2012 and have been given certificate of completion even when the project was yet to be completed.
He explained that the contractors were asking for N80 billion for them to be remobilised and complete the project: “The contractors handling the project had demobilised and left site. In fact when they briefed me, they said they have gotten completion certificate even when the project was yet to be completed though the construction of the tracks from Itakpe-Aladja but no station, communication, signal length, water or power so they are being remobilised to site. I have asked the permanent secretary to do an audit of what is on ground.”
Amaechi disclosed that the ministry was also working with the Chinese company under a public-private-partnership (PPP) to continue the Abuja to Itakpe and from Aladja to Warri with a new deep-sea port in Warri.
The Chairman of the Senate Committee on Lands and Transport expressed reservation about the inability of the ministry to commence the two largest projects in the 2016 Appropriation Act, Calabar-Lagos-Kano modernisation project, even after the provision of the counterpart funding.
He said the project would have generated employment opportunities for Nigerian youths, pledging the determination of the committee to review the budget estimates.
