The Nigeria National League (NNL) will witness a new phase this year, if the declaration by its Chief Executive Officer, Bukola Olopade is anything to go by.

The 2016/2017 NNL League will kick off on March 18, with Racing Stars of Lagos playing host to Papilo FC of Owerri at the Agage Stadium in what has been described as star match of the week.

Speaking with The Guardian in a telephone chat yesterday, Olopade said that a lot of initiatives were going on in the league, adding that his board would turn the NNL into a must-watch league for millions of football loving Nigerians this season.

He disclosed that the NNL League, which has Chidi Ofor Okenwa as (Independent Chairman), Magaji Abdulkadir Kapaka (Independent Vice Chairman), Sunday Longbap (Independent Director), Oladimeji Ladi Thompson (Director), Dodo Isah (Director), Farouk Yarma (Director), Tunji Onatolu (Director), Ifeanyi Onyibe (Director) and Amos Nworie (Director) had just secured the services of another partner, Amara Suites of Ikoyi.

“We just secured a one-year partnership deal with Amara Suites and it runs into millions of naira. We have other sponsors like Bet naija, NTA and Startimes, and as I said earlier, there are lots of initiatives currently going on in the NNL that will change the face of the league.

“The NNL is like a bridge for our local players to the various national teams and we will do everything within our limit to make it the best for Nigerian football lovers,” Olopade said.
