According to sources, the unknown hoodlums attacked the security man attached to the court premises and inflicted machete cuts on him before spraying the court premises with petrol and set it ablaze.

Court 11 was completely razed while Court 1 was saved by the men of the state fire service.
Though an official statement on the incident is still being awaited at the time of filing this report, it was however learned that nothing was salvaged in the courtroom attacked by the arsonists, as all documents and other items kept in the building were destroyed by fire.

The source further said, to prevent those involved to attempt fleeing, the presiding judge had to move to Ilesa Prison last week to conduct his sitting in one of the cases, adding that throughout the proceedings, those being tried were in fetters.
Speaking at the site of the incident, the Chairman, Nigerian Bar Association, Ilesa branch, Mr Ogunfunminiyi condemned the attack on the court, vowing that the association would boycott legal matters at the court.
Meanwhile, Chief Judge of the state, Justice Adepele Ojo has led top government functionaries to assess the extent of the damage done to the High Court.
